Hope Doesn’t Hide

A Christian poem about life and how we should talk about hope, love, joy.

I have some telling to do.
And some won’t like
My point of view.

I’m not going
To talk only about death.
Come on now,
That’s not material that’s new, fresh.

I can deliver
Some down and out.
Tell of how many
Of us are without.

Hey, there’s nothing wrong
With looking down.
There’s a lot of heartbreak
All over these towns.

But how about talking
Some hope in these lives?
Seems like death
Is the subject being kept alive.

That’s all junk
And yeah, there be some lies.
Man, we’re better than that.
Hope doesn’t hide.

How about lifting
Some people up?
Yeah, I have a story,
Won’t stop filling the cup.

I know of life
Some would call insane.
Hope, joy, love,
From death’s grip came!

People here
Need to pay some attention.
They’re getting riled up,
Doing sentence.

No need
For all that low-living and hype!
That’s not how we want
To teach our children, right?

I have the word to be put on the streets.
“Jesus is coming soon!”
Now that, I want to see.
