When we look at Gladness, n. We see that it is joy also, or a moderate degree of joy and exhilaration; pleasure of mind; cheerfulness.
Gladness is found in 47 Verses and is found in only 7 verses in the New Testament, King James Version.
In realizing on my original study of joy, that Mark didn’t contain any verses with the simple form of joy, I searched for gladness.
We do see gladness used in Mark in verse 4:16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
Some of my favorite verses about joy follow:
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
-I take this to mean that outside of the Holy Spirit there is no true joy.
Rom 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Joh 17:13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves
-I grab this and run with it. The joy of Jesus fulfilled in myself? Yes, I definitely want that promise!
Joh 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
-Another verse that promises the joy of Jesus can remain with me,
Luk 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
-Such a time to feel joy! When another realizes the hope and salvation in Jesus and repents.
For a long time, I questioned whether I was saved. I doubted because I lacked joy.
I feared, that is for sure and many other contrary feelings that went along with it, doubt,
delusion at what truth was, but mostly fear.
I held onto my own beliefs and not the promises in the bible.
I like to describe the joy associated with having Christ as your own personal Savior as:
Your no one can take joy!
And that kind of joy is growing in me daily. It is joy amidst sorrow, and tribulation, persecution, not just when things are well.
It is knowing that all could be lost in terms of worldly things, but God will get me through.
My joy is tied to my faith, and my hope and plays a part in my overall peace
I found my joy growing when I specifically claimed the promise that Jesus would complete His work in me if I continued towards His will.
He is able to do exceedingly abundantly with all my needs and desires that choose to glorify Him.
My joy is found in the Lord!
