“Lady Luck”

The proof is in the pudding,
Or so I’ve heard it told.
I hear your cry for truth,
Yet to fantasy you hold.

God is who He is;
He will never be confined
To any earthly lusts,
Or any narrow mind.

You ask for signs and wonders
As they did in times gone past,
And cry to God in outrage
When the good things do not last.

For many things were shown,
Recorded and written down.
But what is God to do
When His Word you do renounce?

All good things are of God,
His Word does plainly state.
Yet, the giver is ignored,
While Lady Luck you play.

Perhaps you’re on a high,
Or maybe sadly low.
The tables they are a-turning,
And the cards must soon be shown.

Pair of dice

The bets are on the table,
The cards are in your hand.
Your life is what’s at stake.
What further do you plan?

The dealer’s on your side,
And Jesus is His name.
He silently is rooting,
“Take God up on His claims!”

In one hand God holds judgement,
In the other lies all hope.
His proof is in the Cross,
And in His Word that you don’t know.

The game is not yet over,
The dealer has dealt again.
He will help you win,
If you look to Him as friend.

Jesus calls you to believe
On His skill and sleight of hand.
He is our intercessor,
Son of God, and Son of Man.

With you I will not argue.
I have told, and you have heard.
This life won’t be a gamble,
If you take Him at His Word.

The turn, it is now yours.
I beg you not refrain.
Do not hold back;
Move forth in hope,
Toward Jesus and His claims.
