“Only You, God”

I love how you still me,
And draw me so close:
Cause me to see you
When I need it the most.

I find it peculiar
When my mind, it is froze;
When I can only see you,
And my heartbeat is slowed.

Close up of woman praying, eyes closed hands slightly raised

You have a way about you
That commands my attention.
It brooks no argument;
(Just thought I would mention.)

Oh, how you affect me,
Often cause me to see
Some thoughts in your mind
With your majestic pleas.

Sometimes I’m terrified,
And completely awed
How you have stilled me,
My Almighty God.

Many times I feel addicted
To that calmness in me.
I would give all that I have
To forever it breathe.

Yet, the work must be done,
And the soldier must march.
But I know who to go to
When I find myself parched.
