Rescue And Search- God At Work

Search and Rescue: “I once was lost, now am found…” is one example of which I used in a recent poem called, “Be Prepared, Filled with Purpose.”  It explains a possible crisis situation if the church doesn’t rally around its people. God is in the search and rescue business. His word plainly states that. Ezekiel 34:11 For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out. Doesn’t that comfort you? He is a God who provides and is faithful. A God whose Spirit is always at work.

Is there a danger of apathy within the church? Absolutely! I wrote the following poem regarding it.

Apathy’s Snare

Are we just going through the motions
like a machine with well-tuned gears?
With the absence of devotion
and lack of love or fear?

Our God is not a God
who is a respecter of any person,
But instead, He views our hearts
through the state of our conversion.

It is well for one to ponder
take heed and clean our house.
Take on a humble spirit,
and servant’s heart (Don’t be without.)

Let us not be deceived by gifts
received from the Lord on high,
And think that the way or means
was from our own will or might.

For easily does he give
or taketh straight away,
To test thee and to prove thee
for that great and final day.

So if things are running smoothly,
yet enthusiasm is missing,
I have a few more words
if thou would care to listen.

The race is set before us.
Live with heartfelt passion.
For Jesus soon returns,
so sow toward everlasting.

There are many churches which ARE shining the light of Christ in their communities. And it’s not only churches but community organizations that are rallying. And online platforms pulling together all their resources for His glory. What do we have to do to move forward? What are you being led to do? If the Spirit is moving within you, then you should be feeling unsatisfactory with your current situation. Kind of a situational crisis experience. You don’t have to be an expert to rescue, you just have to CARE. You may have personal experience, or resources that God can use to assist His plan. Be open and prayerful.

Make a list of your skills, hobbies, dreams- any thing repeat itself? Or have similar strengths/weaknesses? Because God will use your weaknesses as much as your strengths. Nothing like an opportunity to turn that weak link into something that is unbreakable.

How can we be active participants?

  • A well-know Coach, Mark Prasek, asks two important questions prior to the end of his broadcast on
    1. “What is the boldest thing you’ve ever done for Christ?”
    2. “When was that?”
  • And he challenges us to “Never be comfortable with either answer.”

I can say this, my mind wants to draw a blank. I am not sure if I am being buffeted by the enemy, or what, but I almost always feel like I don’t do enough. Whether it’s supporting my fellow brother’s and sister’s in Christ, or assisting my community somehow.

To be able to “Rescue”:

The change in “this” vessel needs to start with me.

So, I am going to find a role for myself or multiple ones, however the Spirit leads me, and I am going to get to work. For that’s what I feel I need to do. You have to figure out what the Lord is asking you to do, yet you may be resisting. Some of us need a fire under us, some need more direction. I praise God that I’m not the one doing the leading anymore. Sure, I may have my days. I may resist. But ultimately, I will answer to Him. I’m not used to large gatherings or too much direct attention, but I hope one day I hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Matthew 9:37 “Then saith he unto his disciples, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborer’s are few.”

There a lot of people that still need rescue. People hurting and broken. If we don’t follow God’s call on our life, it will be a very sad thing indeed.

The Rally is a poem I wrote a while back. It is pertinent to this post’s content regarding rescue.

I am not finished with this important subject and will be updating it accordingly.
