Spiritual discernment- is simple seeming yet complex in its simplicity. Firstly, it involves a work of the Holy Spirit.
Secondly, it takes on different forms
For example: Discern used in H8085 (Strong’s Hebrew) sounds like the word, shaw-mah’ (שׁמע) and it’s tied to hearing intelligently (often with implication of attention, obedience, etc.) and causatively to tell, or proclaim.
It involves Perceiving and being obedient. Perceive what the Spirit is saying, (Spirit will not go against God’s Word) so the obedience involved is twofold. Obedience to God’s Word and obedience in following through with what the Sprit is prompting.
It also involves distinguishing (separating mentally- at a minimum) and identifying. Separating the different factors to come to a right conclusion/understanding.
And another word used also as “discern” is H3045. It sounds like yaw-dah’ and you can read my thoughts on that here.
Discernment is knowing certain factors in an intimate manner. Not just a haphazard guess.
I may do a post in the future and tie it to this post. But hopefully, you have a little more insight. There are multiple words in Hebrew and Greek that relate to discernment. Now, go and find some on your own! (Well, after you read the poem that is.)
No time like the present to be fully aware
Of the Power of Christ, be minus all fear.
The time is upon us to gain strength in number.
But some are asleep, yes, some they do slumber.
Great is our calling, we dare not be idle.
The saddle is in place, and Jesus is bridle.
To deny there is evil is a thorn unto thyself.
A boomerang effect that will surely be felt.
An agenda, a plan, is slowly coming to pass.
To Gods Words alone, yes, His Spirit hold fast.
Don’t be remiss, no, let us not be naive.
Some of us will try to ignorance cleave.
Prophecy is unfolding as some just sit idly by.
Act now sleeper, awaken! Fully cling to Jesus’ side.
Discernment of spiritual things now do yourself gain.
In the name of Christ alone is the victory we claim.

Matthew 16:3 And in the morning, it will be foul weather today: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
Hebrews 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
In 1 Corinthians 11:30 it mentions “For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. (This is in regards to the “Lord’s Supper” and eating and drinking it unworthily-not discerning the “Lord’s body.”) 1 Cor 11:29
