What Defines Us? Or should I say WHO Defines Us?
Lord, despite my given alias names
Of schizophrenic, paranoid, insane,
Greatly have, You given to me
Some words to pen, a cause to plea.
I have a heart, Lord, for those broken, those down.
I’ve penned some words of small renown.
Daily, You give increase. You move my hands, move my feet.
I hide on a plane between two worlds.
My illness, the Spirit, the two they twirl.
Now it comes time for proving.
Spirit slowly begins its moving.
Stepping out in faith abounding.
Your words, my heart, by pen resounding.
There is no limit to us in Jesus
We’ll move mountains, When we see this.
I’m not too long earthly bound.
Yet, I will trumpet, I will sound!
For it is my heart with Your wings that pens.
On the winds of love Your Spirit sends.
To all who look far and near
For words, for love, to be without fear.
I’m your child, a child of the living God.
Some they see me, often as odd
I can only listen, throw in an occasional nod.
For if I listened to them versus my heart,
I could easily lose what Thou hast start.
So important an affirmation is!
Toward faith and truth, the God that lives!
So, to those who live in minds confusing,
He loves you, you know and He is using
This time here to manifest.
In us He’s proving, in us He tests.
So take your mind off faults deceiving.
Instead look to Him, please start seeing
The hope in you
The hope He is freeing!

1Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Romans 9:26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.

Maybe you are just an average Joe or Jane, this poem applies to you still. Do you look for love? Are you strangled by fear? Are you constantly belittling your self? Be assured, God wants to free you from the unwanted and push you toward complete love.
If you suffer from mental illness my heart goes out to you. It can sometimes or should I say oftentimes can be an uphill climb. Maybe you don’t have a true diagnosis, but you feel out of place because of constant trials. I can truly say that because of Jesus, my illness does not define me. Not everyone can say that, and it is sad.
Through Jesus, we can be bold in our recovery. He tells us who we CAN be. His Spirit sanctifies US. It’s the Spirit’s “life’s” work. We only need to be clay, not stone. The searching stops here. And then the finding arrives.
I can take the medications that the Doctor and I have agreed upon that work best for me. You must have a doctor that truly listens to you and understands that your quality of life can be affected negatively by the wrong medications. Don’t be afraid to try out different ones even if it means being on more than one of the same type.
If you don’t call Jesus Savior, my prayer for you is that you would seek Him out. He truly can heal you so that you can live a life that glorifies Him and is focused on recovery. Maybe you suffer from a trauma in your past and that is what has you limping along in life. By not seeking healing, you are giving that trauma the upper hand. Jesus offers you so much more. No matter what your situation is, you can have victory through Him.
